The Philippines has been prone to natural calamities and disaster. This year, the Philippine KOICA Fellows Association Inc. (PHILKOFA), through its LINGAPHILKOFA: Donation Drive, was able to provide immediate help to the victims of natural calamities.
The donation drives for this year was able to collect a total of two hundred thirty one thousand and six hundred ninety pesos (Php 231,690.00). The collections were able to provide immediate assistance to a total of about seven hundred and seven (707) households.
The immediate relief or assistance is vital during calamities, disasters and other natural unforeseen events. The access to road and basic supplies like food, clean clothes, electricity and clean water to name a few were faced by our fellow Filipinos affected. The Philkofans were able to immediately coordinate with the local government units despite the harshness of the situations they faced. The camaraderie and proactiveness of the Philkofans without asking something in return have proven our bayanihan spirit over and over again. Though these combined efforts, Philkofa once again fulfill its goal of making a difference to the community.
