KOICA and PAGASA Set to Implement $US-4M Meteorological Satellite Analysis System


The Korean Government through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) signed the project agreement for the “Establishment of Communication, Ocean & Meteorological Satellite Analysis System” on August 23, 2013 at the PAGASA Office in Quezon City.  The 4 million dollar project will strengthen PAGASA’s capacity to receive and analyze meteorological satellite data thereby enhancing weather monitoring and improving weather forecast accuracy.

The COMS Project will involve the development of a data analysis system, provision of equipment and materials, dispatch of technical experts and capacity building of PAGASA personnel.  The project will be implemented for two (2) years.
