Mindanao Regional Assembly

The Mindanao assembly with the theme “PHILKOFA LIGHTS LIVES” was scheduled on 29-31 October 2016. It aimed to: (i) To build-up the sustainability efforts of strengthening the PHILKOFA as an association that aspires to be relevant in terms of service to its members and the community; (ii) To increase PHILKOFA’s networking ability and collaborative efforts with public and private partners in project implementation where PHILKOFA members can participate thus allowing them to share their time, skills, expertise and resources; (iii) To allow PHILKOFA members in all parts of the country to improve its relationship with KOICA volunteers and fellow scholars through shared commitment and involvement in PHILKOFA activities; (iv) To ensure that PHILKOFA members appreciate the culture, heritage and tradition of the Mandaya indigenous peoples(IPs) living in the province; and (v) To value the fellowship program offered by KOICA with scholars sharing their insights and training application through the visualization ...

Visayas Regional Assembly

The Visayas Regional Assembly was scheduled on 23-25 September 2016. It aimed to sustain the existing camaraderie and the active participation and involvement of PHILKOFA members in projects and activities of the organization. It was also a great opportunity to reach out to PHILKOFAN’s in the region. An outreach program for a selected community in Barangay Dagbasan, Mabinay, Negros Oriental as well as lectures/talks in Saemul Undong facilitated by PHILKOFAN Larry Pamugas, Bohol Provincial Agriculturist, and mosquito-borne diseases by BOT Treasurer Teresita Puente, Pasig LGU Nurse were conducted. The above activities were the first of PHILKOFA’s efforts to realign with KOICA’s new strategy/guidelines after its announcement. 2nd Regional Coordinative Mechanism Coordinator (RCMC) National Meeting and 15th PHILKOFA ANNIVERSARY

The 2nd RCMC National Meeting is one of the significant meetings/activities included in PHILKOFAs Work and Financial Plan (WFP). The RCMCs are PHILKOFAs vital source of support for the successful implementation of its projects and activities. This meeting on 23 July 2016 held at the Ambassador’s Room, Hotel Jen, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, Manila provided an opportunity to disseminate project details and expected deliverables for PHILKOFAs scheduled projects for 2016 as well as to obtain RCMCs inputs for 2017. Moreover, as PHILKOFA turned 15, it was an opportune moment for PHILKOFANs to reminisce, assess, evaluate and plan accordingly for actions to be taken in the future in order to achieve the organization’s Vision, Mission and Objectives. Medical Mission: Operation “Tule” (Circumcision)

PHILKOFA, in partnership with the Life in the Spirit Catholic Community and St. Joseph the Worker Parish, organized an outreach project on 28 May 2016 at the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Manuguit, Tondo, Metro Manila. The activity aimed to benefit 300 indigent children from different households in the community. PHILKOFA was in charge of the Medical Mission, particularly the Operation “Tule” or circumcision of males with ages ranging from 8 to 16 years old. Circumcision in the Philippines is perceived as a “coming of age rite” as well as a hygienic and health practice among males. Operation “Tule” was a success with the participation of PHILKOFAN doctors and nurses, together with nurses from the Pasig City Health Center and PHILKOFAN members who assisted in a non-medical capacity. Strategic Planning and Writing Workshop

The Strategic Planning and Writing Workshop were held at the AVR, 3rd Floor, National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG), UP Diliman, Quezon City on   06 February 2016. The Strategic Planning aimed to revisit the Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives of PHILKOFA, assess what has been done/achieved or otherwise, and plan accordingly to establish the direction/priorities of the organization for 2016. It was facilitated by Ms. CELY JAMIG, an active PHILKOFA member, from UP-NCPAG. 2016 PhilKOFA Officers

Election of the 2016 PHILKOFA Board of Trustees (BOTs) The Board of Trustees (BOTs) were elected during the PHILKOFA General Membership Meeting (GMM) on 28 November 2015 at Hotel Jen, Roxas Boulevard. Since the By-Laws and Constitution of the organization has been amended and ratified on the said GMM, the new set of BOTs will be serving a 2-year term. Also, per Constitution, the BOTs will elect from among themselves the respective positions from President down to the Committee Chairman.
